Batting Cage Shopping Made Easy - By: Bill Ryan, Posted on: 2007-07-21

Want to improve your hitting skills in a short period of time? The batting cage is your answer. A batting cage can greatly assist you with the power in your swing and increase your batting average.

Batting cages will keep the balls in an area where they can easily be retrieved and confined to a small area. They are relatively safe, unless one gets hit by an errant pitch from the pitching machine.

The following considerations should be taken into account when shopping for a batting cage:

1. Batting cages should be selected just like one was picking out a baseball bat. A small bat will require a small batting cage. A larger bat will require a larger batting cage to more replicate the distance between pitcher and batter.

2. Find out what the batting cage is constructed of. PVC pipe and cotton netting will not last more than a couple of years. Aluminum piping and nylon netting will last for years to come.

3. Believe it or not, a batter can have challenges when batting in the open after practicing in a batting cage. This is due to the way the nets are affixed to the batting cage. The inside of the batting cage should be open enough to alleviate a batter's mind from getting use to the space restriction.

4. Whether you are going to rent a batting cage or purchase one, make sure you are getting your moneys worth. It might be better to buy a batting cage if you have trouble getting batting time or it is just to inconvenient to use on a consistent basis.

As stated earlier, batting cages can greatly enhance your hitting skills and ability. The more you practice the better your hitting will be. You might want to go ahead and price batting cages at many only baseball stores. This might be your best return on investment and time.
